FGI Announces Interim Name for Washington's New Football/Soccer Stadium
New Facility to be Called "Seahawks Stadium

SEATTLE, May 3, 2002 – First & Goal Inc. (FGI) today announced "Seahawks Stadium" as the interim name for the new Washington State Football/Soccer Stadium until permanent corporate naming rights are sold. "We are absolutely committed to finding a suitable naming rights partner, but as of yet have not found a satisfactory deal. We will launch the stadium this summer with an interim name that can be changed when the naming rights are ultimately sold," said Bob Collier, vice president, First & Goal Inc. "The stadium opening will be very exciting for the citizens of Washington state. Most already refer to the stadium as 'Seahawks Stadium,' and have since the beginning. So this is the obvious choice." FGI will continue to actively market naming rights. When sold, corporate naming rights proceeds will be dedicated to major maintenance and modernization of the facility. Until a naming rights partner is found, FGI will cover these costs. "Our goal from the outset has been to find the best possible naming rights partner who shares our vision for this world-class facility, is financially solvent and can stand the test of time. We're still in discussions with several companies that fit this profile, but didn't want construction deadlines to force us into a hasty decision," Collier said. "We'll take as much time as we need to find a partner who best serves the public interest. Until then, it makes sense to use the 'Seahawks' name." The public contribution toward stadium construction and operation is capped at $300 million. Referendum 48, also known as the Stadium Act, allows FGI to name the stadium, with any naming rights deal subject to review by the Public Stadium Authority (PSA) Board and a legislative Advisory Committee. The Seattle Seahawks football team is the primary tenant of the new stadium. The team will play its first pre-season game on August 10.
