SEATTLE- March 2, 2000- First & Goal Inc. and the Public Stadium Authority (PSA) announced today that the Kingdome implosion will take place on Sunday, March 26, 2000 at approximately 8:30 a.m. PST. Demolition experts selected the final date after carefully assessing soft demolition efforts and conducting test shots to prepare the Kingdome for implosion. The Sunday date was chosen to minimize impact on surrounding businesses and daily activity. "We're announcing this date with absolute confidence that all necessary pre-implosion work and safety preparations will be completed by that time," said Ray Colliver, project manager, First & Goal. "We encourage the general public to watch the implosion at home on television, as viewing opportunities near the Kingdome will be extremely limited," said Ann Kawasaki, executive director of the Public Stadium Authority. "All local television stations will carry the implosion live." The Washington State Football/Soccer Stadium and Exhibition Center is owned by the public, represented by the Public Stadium Authority (PSA). The PSA selected the site, approved the design, and now will oversee construction of the world-class football/soccer Stadium and Exhibition Center for the benefit of all Washington State citizens. Private funding for the project is provided by First & Goal Inc., a company founded in 1997 by Seattle Seahawks owner Paul G. Allen.
